Health & safety

This site describes hatha yoga poses and breathing practices. It is general information, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Before you start

If you have a chronic condition or an injury, are recovering from surgery, or are pregnant, check with your doctor before you practice.

During practice

  • Move without pain: a gentle stretch is fine, sharp or growing pain means stop.
  • Breathe freely and don't hold your breath unless the technique asks for it.
  • If you feel dizzy, numb or have chest pain, stop and seek medical help.
  • Build up to inversions and intense breathing techniques gradually.

Cautions on each page

Every pose, pranayama and shatkarma lists its cautions. The lists come from the app and follow hatha yoga methodology, but they don't replace a personal assessment by a professional.

About the photos

The pose photos are AI-generated and show the overall shape of the pose. Follow how your body feels and the written technique.
